Summer Wood is a largely self-taught writer from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She is the recipient of the 4th Gift
of Freedom Award in Fiction.

Meredith Hall of Pownal, Maine was chosen as the recipient
of the 3rd Gift
of Freedom Award for Creative Nonfiction.

The recipient of the Foundation’s 1st Gift
of Freedom Award in June 2001 was Jennifer Tseng
of Los Angeles, who received $50,000 over two years to create a book of
